Getting it right
How to measure
A few careful measurements are all we need to cut for you. Take your time, and if any figure looks off to us, we confirm it with you on WhatsApp before a single cut is made.
Before you start
- Use a soft measuring tape, not a rigid one. If you only have a rigid tape, a piece of string measured against a ruler afterwards works.
- Measure over light clothing or underwear, not over a jacket or thick fabric.
- Keep the tape snug but not tight: it should sit against you without pressing in.
- Stand relaxed and upright, and breathe normally. Don't hold your stomach in.
- Get someone to help where you can, since back and sleeve measurements are hard to take on yourself.
Upper body
Chest / BustAround the fullest part of the chest, under the arms, tape level all the way round.
ShoulderAcross the back, from the tip of one shoulder bone to the other.
Sleeve lengthFrom the shoulder tip, down the outside of the arm to the wrist bone, with the arm slightly bent.
NeckAround the base of the neck, where a collar sits, with one finger's width of room.
Around armAround the fullest part of the upper arm (the bicep), arm relaxed.
Waist & hip
WaistAround the natural waist, the narrowest point, roughly level with the belly button, not the trouser line.
Hip / SeatAround the fullest part of the seat, standing with your feet together.
ThighAround the fullest part of one thigh, near the top of the leg.
Lengths
Top lengthFrom the base of the back of the neck straight down to where you want the garment to end.
Trouser lengthFrom the waistband down the outside of the leg to where you want the hem, usually the ankle bone.
InseamFrom the crotch seam straight down to the ankle, along the inside of the leg.
